The economy is the news of the day. The housing market is frozen, businesses are in trouble, the stock market is a roller coaster, and millions of people are watching as their nest eggs are impacted. So what should be our first response?
Don’t panic! A lot of bad financial decisions are made when people react without thinking. A broken economy forces us to come face to face with the need to get our finances in order, and to take seriously the biblical principles of managing money.
The basic components of good financial management include:
- Develop and live on a good working budget
- Write down everything you spend
- Don’t spend what you don’t have (i.e., credit cards)
- If you have debt, develop and stick to a plan to pay it off
- Get serious about saving regularly
- Put God first in everything!
Of course, we know this is WHAT we need to do. HOW is another story!
Take advantage of EVERY opportunity to learn how to implement these principles in your life, including upcoming events like Dave Ramsey’s “Financial Peace University”
