Here is a recent article on the World Hope International website about the new drill rig!
The first drill rig check was delivered to World Hope International. Click here for the World Hope Story! It is truly amazing what God is doing in this community and church.
Heartland Church has made a special connection the past few months with the people of Sierra Leone in northwest Africa through World Hope International. WHI is a faith based relief and development organization. A group from our congregation made a trip to Africa to visit the people of Sierra Leone and see the work that WHI is doing there.
Sierra Leone is the poorest of the 177 countries of the world. Their average annual income is $142 per person, 70% below the poverty line of $2 per day. The average life span is 41 years. Their homes were torn apart by 10 years of civil war from 1991-2001 and a third of the population was displaced during that time. WHI is helping them rebuild in many ways, one being to provide clean, safe drinking water in order to wipe out rampant disease and death. A person may walk miles to obtain water and in most cases the water is unsafe.
We can be someone's miracle now! Heartland donated $150,000 to purchase a new drilling rig that can dig 50 wells a year. There are over a 1000 villages that need water now! Watch the video and see the faces of the people of Sierra Leone when the pump began providing clean water, you realize just how appreciative they would be for any gift, however large or small.
Please partner with us. Our goal was one rig and that prayer was answered. Now looking forward, each well costs about $3500, there are over a thousand villages taht need water, so this project is far from done. What if we actually wiped out the water problem? What if we took baby steps and found one issue after another and slowly wiped out the problems in Sierre Leone. Sure, it is a lofty goal, but with God behind us
Checks can be made out to Heartland Church (9665 Hague Rd, Fishers, IN 46256, Be sure to write "Sierra Leone" on the memo line.) or you can click here and use our ACS system to donate online.
